RE: Forest River flooring problems?

2 years, over 100 days camping in my Rockwood, and no leaks from the floor. No leaks from anywhere to speak of. Great trailer with only a few minor issues that the dealer corrected.

RE: Running lights quit working

No fuses for marker lights in particular. Don't waste your time looking. Could be a bad ground, but not likely unless all the marker lights are grounded to the same place, which doesnt seem likely either. Check your plug/receptacle. Most likely you have a bad connection there.

RE: Quiteing down a generator

Doubtful that you will be able to quiet that contractor generator down enough to be useful in a campground environment. I did see a post a long time ago about a guy who went through a lot of trouble to build a vented and insulated box for his, but this seems like a LOT of trouble.
Personally, I had a Coleman genny for power outages as well, and when I bought my camper, I bit the bullet and bought a yamaha. Easier to tote around, and if you put it around back of the camper, you don't even know it's there.

I've lost count, but make mine a seventh(?) vote for terro. Got them out of my house and camper. Takes 2-3 days though.

RE: Newbie: How do I remove the races?

Holy crap. There is some bad info on here. I've been a heavy equipment mechanic for 12 years.
1) get all replacement parts in hand including new bearing/race SET (do not reuse old race) and a grease seal.
2) Use a BRASS drift (aka punch) to punch out the race, going around the edge, so that it doesn't get cocked (as alluded to above) Use brass as it will not damage the machined surface of the hub. Note how the old race sits in the hub for later reference.
3) To install new race, lightly grease the outside edge of the race to ease installation. Set it in place and then use that nice big brass drift to gently work your way around the edge to reinstall. You want it to go in as straight as possible. Tap it down in unitl it is the same depth as the old one (normally bottomed out, but that may be hard to tell if its an especially tight fit.
4) do not put new bearings into old races. They wear as a pair and the new bearing will not seat proerly leading to premature wear.
5) don't bother with the "race removal tool" aka a puller set. They are too expensive unless you are opening your own repair shop. A brass drift or punch is just a long (8-12"x 1/2-3/4") piece of brass stock. Sears should have one. Your TT hubs are small, so you may want to look for a tapered one.

RE: How do I get the "travel trailer" taste out of the water?

I dont think that many people drink the water from their taps.
Maybe try putting a dilted bleach solution in your tank and running it through the lines, and then flush it real well. It might be tough since the water lines are made of plastic, but thats my only suggestion.
Or maybe try one of those Brita water pitchers where you fill the top of it and it filters as the water runs down through it.

I was under the impression that it was there to hold the shower head at a lower height when my 7 year old takes a shower. But whatever blows your dress up. I dont really buy the anti-siphon line.

RE: cut fule use by 50%

I changed the camshaft in our truck, installed long tube headers, intake manifold, 3" exhaust and calibrated the new carburetor.
I picked the parks so that the peak efficientcy is about 3000 rpm or 65 mph.
I picked up over 1 1/2 mpg and gained a huge increase in horse power.
Not double, but now I get better mileage at 65 than I used to get at 55.
What did that cost and how many gallons/miles do you have to drive to make it worth it?

RE: Concertone TV

I had this identical problem with my concertcrap TV. The TV is toast. Sorry. Mine was under warranty and the dealer sent me a different brand TV (that's television, by the way). Hooked it up and it worked fine.

Window Leak

We had some torrential downpours last week here in S. Maryland. I went in to check out the TT yesterday and found a "snail trail" below my bathroom window where a small amount of water had leaked in. The trail barely reached the floor.
I checked the outside and the seal seems to be intact all the way around. The trailer is only one season old. The window is a "single hung" type where you push the locks in from the sides and raise the bottom half. It was closed tightly.
My question is this: there are two slots at the bottom of the window on the outside. Are these vents of some sort, or a drain for the water that gets into the tracks? If they are some sort of vent, I will seal them with silicone. If its a drain, I imagine sealing it would make matters worse.
Any one else have this same problem?

RE: Tips on tracing an electrical draw

Wow. Lot of bad info on here.
First, if you have no meter, buy a 12V test light. Disconnect the NEGATIVE battery cable, and put the test light in between the cable and the negative terminal. If the light glows, there is a draw.
If you have a meter, use the same setup, with the meter set to DC amps.
Then check circuits. Pulling fuses will check most everything, but there are some items that are not fused. Check trailer lights. Disconnect your inverter. When you test light stops glowing, you have found your draw.
You can go the battery disconnect route, but that wouldnt help you find your draw. If you ever wanted to boondock you'd be in the same situation. Also, the switches that they are showing are way more expensive than the one you need. Go to a truck supply place and get a heavy duty switch. Install it in the same place you had your test light/meter. On the negative side.

RE: Trailer Broken Into

Just a thought: You mentioned insurance. I don't think you should have to file a claim against your insurance. The company that you store it with has a responibility to you. You should make a claim against them and let their insurance pick it up.

RE: Bar B Que hookup

I agree with mosseater. Look around for shops that deal in hydraulics. The good ones will be able to fab you a hose. Remember, someone fabricated the old one, they should be able to make a longer one for you.
If you have trouble finding a place, check with a local heavy equipment shop and ask them who manufactures their hydraulic hoses.

No. I'd get back whatever money you gave them, and tell them to come get their trailer.
